Take a Hike!

The weekly Sunday ride took us to Hinkely where we thought we would take a nice walk out in the beautiful countryside trails.

What we didn't expect was an expert climber trail. Uh ok, yeah I'm completely out of shape. But, I wasn't going to let a few rocks intimidate me, no siree. Until that is, I started climbing down what seemed like a 3000 foot wall. My legs started shaking and I thought, oh yeah! dumbass, you're afraid of heights. Not heights really, afraid of falling from said heights. I swallowed the feeling and climbed down. No one told me climbing down is the equivalent of riding a escalator when compared to the climbing up. I thought I was gonna pass straight out from lack of oxygen when I reached the top, but I didn't.

For your viewing pleasure, here's where we went. I know it doesn't look that steep, but I'm telling you, it was steep. Kinda like the side mirrors on the car that say "objects closer than they seem". This is "cliff steeper and more dangerous than they seem". Enjoy.

R-rated
Yeah, so, my 15 yr old got kicked outta the movie the other day for lewdness, with his girlfriend. Hmmmm, what to do? Slap him on the back and say "way to go, SCORE" or "get a room" or "what the hell" or "that's what the backseat of the car is for". But I couldn't say that, he's not driving yet. Any other suggestions?

Lammy in the Sky with Diamonds
I happened across a new blog on Blog Explosion yesterday. It's called "Growing up Lammy". She's 17, she could be my daughter. But does she speed or run red lights, that's the question!

She has very unique angle in that she posts pictures everyday that I assumed she's photoshopped with herself and her friends in a story. It's very cool and creative. Check her out and tell her I sent you. All of my three commenters! And if you read this Lammy, check out Michele's site on my sidebar, it's a great way to get people reading your site if you haven't already that is.

She posted a picture today with me in it.

Storm Chaser

I'm not sure many of you know that I'm a weather geek. I could watch the weather channel all day. When Hurrican Katrina rolled through, I watched non-stop, except for sleeping of course. My dream job would be storm chasing. Yes, I know you have to track a lot of storms before you really see a good one, but still.

I've watched "Twister" about a bazillion times. I'm awed by mother nature. I hate the destruction, but I can't help loving the strength.

Last night, we had hail, we had rain, we had dark clouds. Then the sun came out for about an hour and then this extremely awesome shelf cloud came rolling from the distance. I've never seen anything like it and we couldn't keep our eyes off of it. As it came toward us, it seemed to roll. Sooo unbelieveably cool. I'm posting a pic, but they didn't come out very good.

In other news:

I had to go out and pick up my son at 11:30 p.m. last night and couldn't get to sleep after, so I've had about 2 hrs. I'm gonna pop some Excedrin extra strength.

Word Verifufucktion!
Okay, am I the only one that has to do the word verification thingy in blogger like three freaking times? It's not rocket science I keep telling my brain. Just because you can't recognize it as a word does not mean you can't type it freak. It's like at work when you enter a name for a person that's from say Checkzolowvokia, your brain doesn't recognize the unusual arrangement of vowels/consonants, see example above. I can't spell that to save my life!

Gawwwddddd!

Weekend Round-up
We are having wonderful Spring weather. Some people would like it to be warmer, but me personally, I like a good transition from Spring to Summer. Crisp cool air in the mornings, cool evening breezes. LOVE IT!

Saturday, I picked up my son and his friend at his friends house. They wanted to go work out at the JCC. It didn't open until 1:00, so they rode with me to pay the rent and then we all went to eat at CiCi's. $4.49/buffet, it's a great value and also where my oldest works. He's the son that is staying with his dad for now and it was great to catch up with him. He's sooo cool and sweet. He has been friends with M since 4th grade. M's parents both passed away and he transferred to our school and they've been great friends since.

Sunday, read the paper in the morning while having coffee. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend. My girl and I went to the movies and saw "Break-up". It was pretty funny. I was surprised. We went to Sally's and picked up some pedicure stuff and then rented movies. We went tanning and when we got home, I gave myself a pedicure while drinking some Bud Ice and watched another movie with Jennifer Aniston. The one about "The Graduate". Can't remember the name. It was too late to polish my nails, so I drank another Bud Ice and watched "When a Stranger Calls". It was stupid. Don't waste your money.

So, we kept the promise to ourselves and actually DID something this weekend. I like being a homebody, but it was getting ridiculous, let me tell ya.

That's the Ticket
Remember that feeling of the last day of school? The anticipation was exhilarating. Well not so much as a parent let me tell you. My son got his car back after school on the last day after being grounded for three weeks. I sorta got sucked into remembering the last day feeling. The "kids" all wanted to do something together that night. Soooo, he and a bunch of his buddies went to the Drive-In. I love the Drive-in, I remember stuffing people in the trunk, warm summer nights, and Drive-in junk food. Any way, it's all good right. I told him he could stay out past curfew (stupid) since the movies always run past twelve. Still, so far so good. He drops his buddies off, still doing ok, right.

He's about a half-mile from our house which is sorta country-in-the-city and there's a stop light where he has to turn LEFT. K, no problem. It's 1:45 a.m., he looks right, he looks left, looks right again, left again. No traffic AT ALL. Says to himself, I'm tired dog, I'm just gonna turn. He turns. Yep, he did. Next thing he knows, sirens goin off and bam, BAM, he gets pulled over. Gets a ticket for running a red light.

Whooo hooo, we git to go to Juvie. We git to go to Juvie. Sing along with me now.

Little mother f'er. And believe me, he's paying the ticket, which we won't know how much it is until Judge Juvie (heee heee) tells us. Anywhere from $5 to $250. Dadgum teenagers.

It's the Last Day
Today marks the last day of school for the boyways. That's how we say it. So we now have a sophomore (barely, see prior post) and a Junior. I can't believe how fast it's going. Just drudging through each day thinking, do they have clean uniform shirts?, and the next thing you know, damn girl, I only need one more clean one. Summer's here. I certainly hope they enjoy these summer days as teens, I did. And legally for God's sake.

I need a second job, seriously, but I'm gettin too old for that crap. I worked two jobs in my 20's and it was great, but now, 22 yrs later, I'm not so sure I'm up for that. I need my sleep, ya know? And since the boyways will prob only be "in the house" for two more years, I wanna be there. After they move out, things change, it's the way life is.

My wife has taken on some cleaning jobs that pay well, but let me tell you sister, cleaning is not something I want to do MORE of, ummm k. It's a great second job if you can schedule when you want etc, but it's just not for me. She loves to clean and if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't clean at all or just the bare minimum. Now, I'm not talking rotten food, trash heaping, nasty carpets not clean. I mean shoes everywhere, papers for 3 months stacked up and that kind of slacking. It's my specialty. Everyone's gotta be good at something, right?

In other news:

I gotta get outta the house this weekend and DO something, anything.

I'm so Gay
Two bloggers on my blogroll are talking same-sex marriage today. I think I've almost given up to tell you the truth. I'm so sick and tired of the damn politics surrounding it. If the Republicans want their numbers up, they talk about gay marriage and let's ban it already, it'll be the miracle of the century. Everything will turn around for this country. Those damn gays, pushing their agenda down our throats.

Last election, it seemed most people were against gay marriage as some type of legislation was passed or would be passed banning it. The blogs I read seem to show the opposite. How can this be? I think it's apathy. While people may not be against it, they aren't going to go to polls if they normally don't anyway. Face it, the majority of Americans do not vote. People who feel strongly about something will go though. For instance, school levies, many many people showed up to vote that normally would not, either for or against.

In this case, people are apathetic to our cause. They can take it or leave it. It's like fighting a losing battle. I'm sick of it damn it. For the first time in my life, I'm being discriminated against. It's a weird feeling.

Let's change...and change again
First off, let me just say that just because it's raining doesn't mean you have to drive like there's a damn blizzard with zero visibility, k. thanx.

K, second. I want to write a funny bunny blog, not some stupid ass whiney blog, but, there's always a but, isn't there?, I'm just not feelin it today, it's raining. Hee heee.

A month ago, my second son, decided he was just going to quit doing his homework. Yeah, just overnight, like, hey, I'm not gonna do this anymore. This from a straight A student that I never had to bug about doing his homework. So, we thought, hey, lets send him over to his Dad's for the weekend. That'll get him in line, yeah, that's what we should do. Well he hasn't come back. Oh yeah, that really worked out. What a good idea you idiot. I miss him with all my damn heart. Shit dog, if this is what he really needs, I'm all for it. They're teenagers now, maybe they need the dad thing, fine then. But I wasn't prepared, I cried and cried. I'm fine, I'm fine I keep saying.

Then, yeah then, my first son who was doing so well. Got a job, making good grades, really maturing in these past 6 months, yeah, caught him smoking pot in the living room last weekend. I came downstairs at about 12:30 a.m. to get something to drink and went into the living room, just to chat. I saw a plastic Pepsi bottle under the pillow, pulled it out to throw it away, but it wasn't just a bottle, oh no, it was a homemade water bong. I thought, damn, why didn't I think of this. No just kidding. Well we took his car away and he's grounded and his dad is going to take him to some "meetings" as in AA with other adolescents.

How do you keep these damn kids on the right track, that's what I'm talking about. I want them to have a better life than me, have a good job, with no criminal record for God's sake. I hope I make it through the rain. (That's a song). (Also, I don't have a criminal record, just for the record, just that drugs are illegal, right?)

In other great news:

Steak is good.
